Alexandre joined BSB as a Year 10 student in 2019. He arrived without any English experience: “The only two words I knew in English were Ketchup and Burgers!” Despite this challenge, Alexandre quickly started to make his mark at BSB. He still remembers getting his first effort award in the December 2019 end of term assembly: “Being far from my home country for the first time, getting this award helped me through IGCSE.” With the support of his teachers and through his own excellent work ethic, Alexandre’s conscientious approach to his studies over the past two years ensured that he successfully completed his IGCSEs in May and June 2021 with a fantastic set of results: 4A*s and 4As. We are so proud of Alexandre!
Alexandre isn’t only academically very capable; he has a wide range of interests, from swimming and badminton to social justice. For example, when he still lived in Belgium, his school did some fundraising for the NGO Ile de Paix which aims to reduce poverty in countries such as Burkina Faso and Peru. Alexandre managed to fundraise the most amount of money from all of the different year groups in his school, a dedication that shows him to be a highly caring individual.
Alexandre continues to aim high for his IB Diploma; he already has his sights set on achieving 7s in Mathematics and Physics, saying “getting more 7s won’t be bad.” In the future, Alexandre plans to study Science and Mathematics at University. We look forward to seeing Alexandre continue to flourish on his IB journey.
