I attended the University of Stirling and graduated in 2010 with a BA (Hons) in Sports Studies, Physical Education and Professional Education. Through this course I also became registed as a qualified teacher and I immediately started my education career. Throughout my 5 years of teaching in Scotland I gained a wealth of experience within my subject area as well as wider school initiatives. I successfully taught GCSE and A-level equivalent PE, led sports teams, had involvment in Duke of Edinburgh and even participated in an amazing exchange to Kenya!
For the past 3 years I have been teaching middle and high school students in Beijing. Whilst in this school I learnt about a number of different international curriculums and developed strategies to support EAL students. Teaching in an international setting has been an incredible experience and I’m looking forward to challenging myself further at BSB. I am particularly looking forward to teaching IGCSE and getting involved in the competitive sport events offered here.
I, of course, enjoy participating leisurely in most sports! Field hockey is a particular strength of mine and in the past I played regularly in National League. In Beijing however I have not found a regular competitive hockey team so I am trying out Rugby and Gaelic football instead! One of my sporting highlights was receiving a high 5 from Mo Farah at the Great North half marathon!
