Since graduating from Dundee University, Scotland, with both Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Architecture degrees, I have worked extensively with children, primarily through my passion for swimming. Alongside a 20 year career in construction, I devoted the majority of evenings and weekends to teaching and coaching swimming, from early years up to adulthood, with coaching roles both at regional and national level as part of English Schools Swimming in the UK.
Following two years living in Bangkok, Thailand, I joined BSB in September 2017 and gained my TEFL certification, working first in Early Years, then in Year 4 and Year 5 (SEN). My experience confirmed my desire to be a primary class teacher, so I could be a part of ensuring that each child’s individual potential is unlocked and realised. This led to the undertaking of my PGCEi teaching qualification, which has now enabled me to join the teaching team in Year 2. I am very excited about my new role and looking forward to my future in teaching, here at BSB.
I live here in Beijing with my husband, son and daughter, who are also all at BSB. The school is an integral part of our lives, as we all make the most of the many opportunities on offer here. There is rarely a weekend when we are not in school for something. Outside of school, I love cooking with my daughter and playing board games with my family. I particularly love to travel and still have a passion for architecture, so I never miss an opportunity to visit new places.
