Secondary Art Teacher

BA Art & Jewellery Design, TEFL and teacher licence

I grew up in Stellenbosch in South Africa and am privileged to have grown up in a family of academic and educators. My parents and grandparents, as teachers, encouraged me to follow a similar vocation. I completed my studies at the prestigious University of Stellenbosch where I graduated with a degree in Arts majoring in Jewelry design. Following graduation, I went into business. This experience enabled me to develop my strategic and organisational skills. As much as I enjoyed working in the jewelry trade, the call to share my knowledge and experience with young people was always in the back of my mind.

I therefore completed my teaching certification and explored the possibilities of a career in education.  I also had a desire to experience different cultures and to share my rich experience with students from all over the world. This led me to the field of international education. I started my journey as an educator in South Korea primarily working in the field of language acquisition.

The arts however remained my passion and I was absolutely delighted to join the BSB team as a teacher of Art. It is a daily joy to come to school and support young learners to explore their creativity and express themselves through the medium of the arts. Furthermore, being part of the wider Nord Anglia Education family presents fantastic opportunities and allows me to make a contribution to the wider school community, particularly by advocating for the ‘A’ in STEAM as an integral part of our collaboration with MIT.
