University Degree: BA History, iPGCE, CELTA, Masters in Education (in progress)
I am originally from Philadelphia, in the United States, and I have been teaching abroad both in Japan and across China after my graduation from Pennsylvania State University in 1999 with a BA in History, with minors in Music and Middle Eastern Studies. Most recently, I have worked at the Centre for Overseas Academic and Cultural Exchange at Tsinghua University, and as Head of English, IB Coordinator, and most recently Academic Principal at The International Curriculum Centre of RDFZ RenDaFuZhong (The High School Affliated with Renmin University). During this time I obtained my PGCE from Sunderland University, and am currently studying for my MA Education with the same institution. I also have a Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA).
I am delighted to be back in the classroom full time with BSB. BSB’s focus on the whole child is very appealing to me as an educator – the rigorous academics coupled with development of all the social and personal skills required for a person to be successful in their future. BSB’s IGCSE and IB curricula also fit well with my own teaching experience.
Outside of school, I am a new father, an amateur photographer, a voracious reader, and an explorer of Beijing, where I’ve lived for the last 14 years. I look forward to getting to know Shunyi and its environs over the next years!
