May 1 National College Decision Day at NBPS

May 1 marks National College Decision Day, a meaningful milestone for high school seniors across the country. At North Broward Prep, the day represents more than college commitments. It reflects years of growth, discovery, and personalized support as students prepare for life beyond NBPS.

Guided by the College Advising Office, the Class of 2026 approached the college process with purpose and confidence. Through individualized meetings, academic planning, essay support, and conversations centered around each student’s unique strengths and aspirations, seniors explored pathways that aligned with their goals and passions. As an extension of NBPS’s personalized approach to learning, the collegea dvising journey encourages students to think critically, advocate for themselves, and find the universities and programs that are the best fit for their future.

This year, students will continue their journeys at an impressive range of institutions, including the University of Florida, Florida State University, University of Miami, University of California, Los Angeles, University of California, Berkeley, University of Michigan, Vanderbilt University, Emory University, Columbia University, New York University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Tulane University, Pennsylvania State University, and The Ohio State University, among many others.

Students celebrated these accomplishments together during the College Advising Office’s Cookies and College Acceptances event. Throughout the day, seniors stopped by to share their commitments, celebrate with friends and counselors, and reflect on the journeys that brought them to this moment. The excitement throughout the office served as a reminder of the supportive and connected community that defines NBPS.

As part of the celebration, each student placed a sticker representing their next destination on a display in the College Advising Office. The wall quickly became a visual representation of the Class of 2026 and the many unique paths our students will take beyond NBPS.

As seniors reflected on their experiences, many shared what made their time at North Broward Prep so meaningful.

Sydney Atherton, who will attend New York University to study Theatre, shared:

“The thing I love most about NBPS is the relationships students are able to build with teachers. From feeling comfortable asking questions to having a support system, the faculty at NBPS are fully dedicated to each and every student’s well-being, which I think is really special.”

Julia Sotto Nascimento, who will attend IE University in Madrid, Spain to pursue a dual degree in International Business and Law, reflected on the opportunities available through the NBPS experience:

“One thing I love most about NBPS is how many diverse opportunities there are. Through NBPS, I’ve been able to get involved in a variety of opportunities, including both things I have always been passionate about and things I was less experienced with.”

Brent Fink, a University of Miami Finance major, shared a favorite memory from their time on campus:

“My fondest memory is lunch with friends.”

National College Decision Day is not only about where students are headed next. It is a celebration of who they have become throughout their journey at NBPS. Through meaningful relationships, rigorous academics, and opportunities that encourage students to pursue their passions, the Class of 2026 leaves prepared to make an impact wherever their next chapter takes them.

To the Class of 2026, congratulations. We are proud of all you have accomplished and excited to see all that you will achieve in the years ahead. No matter where your journey leads, you will always be part of the NBPS community.
