In the Primary EAL department we are hugely proud of all our students – studying in another language can be a very challenging and tiring process. We admire their stamina, perseverance and good humour greatly during the English learning process. We like to celebrate our students’ achievements in lots of ways – with events such as celebration assemblies for Star of the Month and recognising their achievements when they graduate.
So, for this reason we would like to share with you some of the students who, while not yet quite ready to leave the EAL programme, have nonetheless made progress that impressed us in their recent assessments and in their classwork.
GangJun Year 5
Since joining at the beginning of the year, GangJun has improved in leaps and bounds in all areas of English. Not only has GangJun progressed in academics, but he has also grown in confidence which is reflected through his eagerness to interact with his peers, tell jokes and write funny short stories. He has even started to feel confident enough to help others in his EAL class! GangJun’s hard work and determination set an excellent example for students learning an additional language.
Ryan Year 1
Respectful and gentle, Ryan is very keen on learning new words and spelling them correctly and enjoys communicating and participating in class, always completing all his activities. He is also a big help to his EAL classmates and teacher and sets a good example because he likes to tidy the class at the end of the lesson. His hard work all year is really paying off.
Victoria Year 3
Victoria has been showing some wonderful confidence lately in her approach to new learning opportunities and she has always been very positive about her English, even though it was a challenge for her when she first arrived at BSB. All areas of her English have improved and her motivation will ensure her success continues. We are proud to be part of Victoria’s English learning journey.
