North Broward Preparatory Upper School student Roksanna Keyvan ’22 has been recognized as the winner of the Legacy Art Award. Each year the North Broward Preparatory School Visual Art Legacy Program recognizes an Art student who demonstrates art scholarship, character, and service.
Roksanna exemplifies her expression through art. The artwork entitled, “Fate Unbridled”, is a representation of how we appreciate the past while looking to the future.
“The horse is winged, symbolizing our fates and our dreams taking flight- leaping to become their own realities. The horse looks towards the 2021 piece, reminding us that the Fate of Today was built by the legacy of yesterday. With his outstretched hoof, the horse points to the viewers on the ground – who are the future of our community-encouraging them to unbridle their own fate. His hoof also points to our past- or the early legacy works- reminding us to acknowledge where our stores once began, and to cherish the stories we interacted with along the way.”
On May 6, Roksanna’s artwork is officially and permanently displayed in the Learning Commons.
“Art is where I was able to find myself. Art is everything and everywhere. Being an artist means you express yourself and your creativity in everything that you do and in every way that you can.”
Special thanks to Shelley Weiss, Art Department Coordinator PK3-12, who continues to help students embody excellence through art.
Congratulations Roksanna!
