On Thursday and Friday, February 9th and 10th, our VHS MUN (Model United Nations) team participated in the 42nd HAMUN conference at the University of Houston. We had 36 students in attendance, which is the most we have ever taken to this conference. The students represented the school proudly discussing such topics as: forced child marriage, developing a framework for exploration and settlement of Extraterrestrial territories, and Apartheid, 1982. This year we had five students that won awards:
Alejandro Z., Outstanding Delegate
Mack H., Honorable mention
Sameer H., Best Position Paper
Saamia I., Outstanding Delegate
Ahmed Q., Best Delegate
This is the third conference the team has attended this year. The students also participated in CISSMUN (Shanghai), and YMUN at Yale University.
"It has been amazing to see the growth of this team over the past four years. It started out with only a handful of students and now we have over 60," said Connie Collyer, MUN Sponsor.
