U15 FOBISIA Games 2018

On 22nd - 26th November, BSKL travelled to Thanyapura Health Resort in Phuket along with seven other top international schools to compete in the U15 FOBISIA Games 2018. The squad consisted of 28 students; 12 girls and 16 boys.

The first day was swimming and athletics where we had some great individual results. Notable performers included Angie Emby who gained the most points for BSKL in her swimming events and Sean Lee who was the stand out performer for the boys swimming. It was the highest standard of swimming we have been a part of at a U15 FOBISIA games, and it was excellent to see BSKL students stepping up to events when other students we unable to race due to illness or fatigue.

There were excellent support and performances throughout the afternoon in the athletics meet. On the track the boys 800m races were very entertaining with Raul pushing his local rival right to the line to finish 2nd, and Batuhan doing the same in his event to finish 1st. Sena broke the Year 9 400m record with a time of 56.82 seconds. Andres broke 2 school records in both the 100m and 200m, as well as being a part of the 4x100m relay. During the meet, seven boys and four girls school records were broken:

FOBISIA records

The girls were unlucky not to make the finals in football but did beat Alice Smith in their final match to finish 5th. The boys performed extremely well to finish 1st overall, beating Bangkok Patana in the final 2-0. In basketball, the boys lost in the semi finals, eventually finishing 4th.

It was an incredibly challenging FOBISIA games but also an extremely rewarding and memorable one. Thank you to all staff who have coached students, gave up their time to attend the trip and of course to our talented, hardworking U15 FOBISIA team. For some of you this is the last FOBISIA games you will be involved in so thank you for all of your contributions over the years.

Well done to all of those involved and congratulations to our record breakers.
