Secondary Sporting Success

The Years 7 and 8 sports stars had a busy week with both ISAC & KLISS Basketball pool
play as well as a weekend ISAC football fixture.

After 1st place finishes in both Basketball pools, winning all 6 games over the 2 days, in the final ISAC pool the girls managed to edge out Alice Smith to finish 3rd.

The u13 Boys A team performed admirably at the ISAC finals at ISKL. The top 4 teams were all evenly matched and the final results were decided in the very last game. After losing narrowly to ISKL A (by 1 point), the boysdropped a game to GIS but kept their composure to score a convincing win over Nexus. As all teams had 1 win, the order was to be decided in the game against ISKL and GIS. If ISKL won, we would finish second and GIS last! If GIS won we would finish 3rd. It was a ‘nail-biter’, with the score being tied at the end of regular time. The game was won in overtime, with only 1.6 seconds on the clock, by two excellent free throws from GIS. BSKL A finished 3rd overall but showed we are up there with the best.

BSKL Boys B team also had a great tournament. They were very unlucky not to beat ISKL B (lost by 1 basket) and showed how far they have come since the start of the year.

BSKL’s basketball teams are going from strength to strength! A and B football teams put in a tireless shift on Saturday morning with just 1 sub per team meaning the girls had to work really hard for each other under the baking sun. A huge team effort meant the As finished second, narrowly losing out to KLASS in a tight final, while the Bs managed to defeat ISP in their final game, despite being a player short through injury, to finish in an overall 7th. A huge effort from all involved and some important preparation for the upcoming FOBISIA.

The boys travelled to NEXUS on Saturday morning to take part in the the second ISAC tournament of the year. BSKL entered 3 teams, more than any other school taking part which is testament to the hard work they have put in throughout the year at training. The A team managed to remain undefeated throughout the group stages without conceding a goal. The B team although failing to score managed a 0-0 draw with Alice Smith A which was a fantastic result with Andrew King in goal with one of his best performances in a BSKL team. The C team playing mainly against A teams played out a 3-3 thriller with a hatrick from Isaac Nelson.

The A team went into the cup competition and although dominating both games in terms of possession and opportunities to score ended up losing both games 1-0 and claimed 3rd place over all. The C and B teams finished in 9th and 10th respectively. A great competition to prepare for their upcoming FOBISIA games.

Well done to all.
