BSKL Students Race to the Top

Three British International School of Kuala Lumpur students medaled in the Nord Anglia 2 km race held earlier this month as the first of four events in the Nord Anglia Global Sports Competition.

Megan, Year 11, earned a gold medal for her first place finish in the 16+ girls event with a time of 8:34.

Paige, Year 9, and Francis, Year 8, each earned silver medals for second place finishes in the U15 Girls event and the U13 Boys event respectively. Paige ran the race in a time of 8:10. Francis finished in 7:23.

  • Megan, Year 11 student, finished first place in her age group in the 2km run as part of the Nord Anglia Global Sports Comp.
  • Paige, Year 9 student, finished 2nd place in her age group in the 2km run as part of the Nord Anglia Global Sports Comp.
  • Francis, Year 9 student, finished 2nd place in his age group in the 2km run as part of the Nord Anglia Global Sports Comp.

More than 250 athletes from BSKL participated in the event.

“We’re very proud of our three medalists, but I also want to congratulate the other 252 participants from BSKL. The amount of participation from our school was awesome and I think it speaks to the ambition, resilience and spirit of trying new things that our school embraces,” Harrie Thomson, Director of Sport, said.

The 2km race was held globally at Nord Anglia schools 19 – 26 September. BSKL’s PE department submitted student times recorded during the event with the top finishers earning medals and points toward the NAE Global Sports Competition Trophy.

The next event to be held is the 5km race on 17 – 24 October, and BSKL students will participate virtually.

Swimming events will be held in November and a Tri-field competition will be held in December.

Schools earn points for each participant and medal winner.
