BSKL are AIMs Primary Athletics Champions!

On Friday, 40 children from across years 4, 5 and 6 travelled to ISKL school to compete for the AIMS athletics championship.

The event consisted of a number of track and field events that the children had been training for in recent weeks, and was a competition that BSKL had not managed to win for a number of years.

Each event was an opportunity for the children to not only earn medals for their personal success but score vital points for the team. Our young athletes gave it everything they could in the hot and humid conditions, leaving all their energy on the track. There were some unbelievable personal bests in the throwing and jumping events, while the children pushed themselves for every position they could on the track to earn vital points for the team.

The BSKL girls were particularly dominant, winning medal after medal in every race. The relay events were another strong area for BSKL as they managed to win a medal in every race to earn double points and give the young lions a chance for the trophy.

When the results came in the hard work had paid off for the lions. The girls finished top of the points table and a late surge from the boys in the field events also saw them squeeze into second place. Once the points were totalled, the celebrations could start as BSKL were announced as AIMS athletics champions.

A huge well did to all of the teachers, parents, coaches, and most importantly the students, who have worked so hard over recent weeks to prepare for the competition. The children now full of enthusiasm for athletics, will look to continue to improve in their events for future competitions and see how good they can become.
