At The International School of Moscow Rosinka we have developed our own approach to revolutionising the educational process. We have been creating spaces where students can design, create and improvise and develop skills that will help them succeed in the 21st century.

We have been busy creating exciting, engaging and stimulating areas for our inquisitive students to explore independently. Each classroom in our EYFS department has been complemented with our wonderful STEAM walls to help develop our students’ collaborative, creative and problem-solving skills, and what a success it has been.

Our students have had a lot of fun learning through playing with their peers on our range of magnetic, chalk and cork boards. Our fantastic teachers have been working hard to think of ways to integrate our number and literacy skills on our STEAM walls. They have been preparing the walls with a range of activities from sorting magnetic numbers, taking risks by pin-tapping different shapes to create an endless array of pictures and building finger strength through exploring various materials.

The collaborative nature of our STEAM walls has developed our students’ use of language through peer discussion, problem-solving and sharing ideas with friends. We believe our STEAM walls have given us another tool that we can use to promote learning within our EYFS classrooms.

But what do our students say about our new STEAM walls?

I have so much fun playing on the corkboard and making pictures with the shapes.”

I like to play with my friends and sort the different shapes using magnets.”

We are proud of our STEAM walls and the extra opportunities they offer to our students to develop their learning at ISM.
