U19 Boys SISAC Volleyball City Championships

30 October 2015

On Thursday 29 October BIS hosted the annual SISAC City Volleyball Championships.

In the top seed Pool A, British International School HCMC were joined by ISHCMC, SSIS and TIS for a round robin tournament, followed by deciding finals matches. The standard of Volleyball was extremely high throughout and even a number of power cuts couldn’t stop the electrifying skills on display.

BIS were closely beaten in each game of a two set encounter against ISHCMC in their opening match. However, in each of their next two round robin games against SSIS and then TIS, BIS managed to take the game to a third set, narrowly getting beaten in the deciding set in each game. This placed BIS in the 3rd/4th place final match in which, true to form, TIS won the first game and BIS the 2nd. In the third and final set, BIS determination and effort couldn’t quite match TIS slightly better skill level, with TIS taking the deciding game 15-11.

In the final we were treated to an exhibition of highly skilled and competitive Volleyball from ISHCMC and SSIS. In a game that swung in each teams favour, with each team being on the brink of clinching the third and final set, ISHCMC were able to get over the line first for a well deserved victory.

The much improved BIS team for the tournament was as follows:

1.    JK Kazzi (c)

2.    Josh Kazzi

3.    David Berns

4.    Josho Tanaka

5.    Chingisz Gataullin

6.    Nam Tran

7.    Mylan Vogels

8.    Felix Robineau

Good luck for next year boys and well done on a hard but enjoyable season!
