There are so many advantages to living in Vietnam, however, for those interested in studying in Europe or North America, the disadvantage is that we live very far away...
Too far away for students and families to visit university campuses. We often remind students that visiting a university is incredibly valuable. It is vital students choose a university that is a good fit for them. When students have the opportunity to visit a university campus, they are able to meet current students and get a feel for the place. In the absence of a campus visit, we have been able to provide the students with the opportunity to meet university representatives who visit our school.
We have been incredibly fortunate to have so many university representatives visit BIS. These representatives have met with our students and talked about the different university application systems, how admission decisions are made, the unique qualities of their university and answered any questions the students may have had. Students have had a busy term welcoming these universities. With over 150 university visits to our school this term, we can’t list them all but here are some of the universities BIS has been fortunate to host:
The purpose of these visits is not only for students to ask questions but also for the representatives to generate interest in their institution. They come with pennants, brochures and business cards and welcome student contact after their visit to BIS. Attending these university visits not only gives the students practice in meeting admissions professionals but often the representatives visiting will also be the persons reading the applications.
Students have an opportunity to find out more information about each university which is crucial when it comes to developing a workable college list. A student’s interest, expectations and future plans need to be a match with whichever university they may apply to. With over 4000+ colleges and universities to choose from in the US alone, it is important for student’s to be able to dig beneath the shiny photos in the brochures and get a real sense of what attending a university would be like.
We have a lot more to come in Term 2, and you can follow all of our visits by following our brand new twitter account... @BISHCMC_CUG
