Walking into school is special each and every day, however to be given a breakfast gift and heartfelt thanks made the experience even more memorable. Events such as these really do reaffirm how strong our community is at BIS HCMC. More information and pictures about this event can be found in this post.
Well done to all of our children from Y1 to Y6 who took part in their annual Sports Days this week. Thank you to all of our parents from across both An Phu Primary and Tu Xuong Primary for attending and cheering on our athletes. As always, your support is both welcome and appreciated. Finally, a big thanks to all of our PE staff, teachers, teaching assistants and children who helped to make these events run smoothly and effectively over the three days. The final results will be announced to the children in next week’s Friday assembly. Read a little more about the event and access more photos by reading this post from Ms Lindsey Shuttleworth, PE Teacher.
Following the post by Mr Anthony Rowlands last week, I would like to congratulate all of the parents who have contributed to the establishment and development of the school's Upcycling Uniform Project. Recently, we have been nominated for the International Impact Award by the British International Schools Magazine. Look out for the next pop up shop, selling items from this very worthy and sustainable scheme.
Good luck to all of our footballers who are taking part in the Phuket Football tournament in Thailand this weekend. I am sure that they will all be trying their best and working together as a team in order to be the best that can be. For live updates from Phuket please follow our social wall.

Year 4 Community Partnership with Nguyen Hien School
This month 4V, 4N, 4H and 4C have met up with students from Nguyen Hien school, a government school near Cantavil in An Phu. The exchange program involves our students hosting Nguyen Hien students twice and visiting Nguyen Hien twice. It enables children to interact with others from different backgrounds and so supports our mission of students becoming 'global citizens learning together'. Read more about this Year 4 community link in this post by Ms Jude Handscombe, Year 4 Teacher and Milepost 2 Leader.
Empowering Students for World Children’s Day
Monday 20th November was not only Teacher’s Day, but World Children’s Day too. To mark the celebrations for World Children’s Day, students have rallied around the world in numerous #KidsTakeOver events. Throughout the day, students have taken over schools, businesses and government institutions to raise their voices about the importance of children’s rights and advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals. In this post, look through the amazing thoughts and discussions that took place this week based upon the question: If you were to start your own country, how would you ensure gender equality from the start?

Key Stage 3 Performance of Antigone
Drama is integrated throughout the primary curriculum and offered as a non-examination subject to all students in Years 7-9.
As well as giving our mainstream students the opportunities to develop critical thinking, creativity and explore a variety of emotions and reactions in a safe and secure setting, the lessons also provide an ideal opportunity to help our English as an Additional Language (EAL) speakers gain confidence in a relaxed, informal and stimulating learning environment. For more details about how you can come and watch the play ‘Antigone’, please access this post by Ms Cat Sargent, Head of Drama (APS).
In order to keep our children safe on the roads outside BIS, both before and after school, please can you spend a few minutes of your time discussing the following points with your drivers.
- Never stop on or near to a pedestrian crossing – in order to ensure that our families can cross the road safely, please instruct your driver to park as far away from the main gates as possible to avoid congestion. Try walking a short distance to keep cars down to a minimum.
- No cars should be parked for long periods of time outside of school – ask your driver to meet you at a convenient location away from the school gates and please ask them to never double park as this stops the flow of traffic at peak times.
Always remember to Stop, Drop and Go to keep the traffic flowing.

Thank you very much to all parents who have completed a registration form and made payment of the fee. A reminder that the fee is VND500k with a football kit and reduced to VND350k if your child re-uses their kit from last year. We will check all registration forms and issue an appropriate refund if a parent has paid the higher fee before the discounted amount was announced.
Shin Pads and Long Socks
Please ensure that your child always wears suitable long football socks and shin pads (they can be bought at the school shop or local sports shop). This prevents injury. Several children have not been wearing shin pads/socks at recent training.
Coaches needed for Y2/3 and 4/5/6 & Administration Volunteers

*Please remember children need to wear sports kit.
*Please remember all children need shin pads with football socks to protect their legs.
*Please remember they must bring a water bottle.
*Hat or cap is optional
*You can buy Football socks from the BIS Uniform Shop, or any sports shop.
*For parents who are unable to stay throughout the whole training, would appreciate to arrive 10 minutes before your children's session ends to pick them.
