Virginia Polytechnic Institute

Congratulations to BSB 2020 Graduate Illiana who will be attending Virginia Polytechnic Institute in the United States. She plans to study animal and poultry sciences with a pre-vet emphasis.

"I am thrilled to have been able to graduate at BSB and I am very grateful for the wonderful memories I have made with my peers and teachers. I hope that other students will have the chance to experience new things at BSB and leave with life-long memories wherever they are in their academic careers. Thank You!"

1. Looking back at the years of studying at BSB, how would you to describe this experience?

My years of studying at BSB were enriching because I was able to learn in a diverse and structured environment with a wonderful group of peers and teachers.

2. How has studying at BSB helped you achieve academic success/ university acceptance/ personal development?

Studying at BSB has helped me develop the skills I need to succeed in my university courses by having followed a rigorous curriculum that pushed me to develop effective study habits. By studying at BSB I also developed leadership skills and teamwork skills that I hope to use in my future career.

3. Please give us 2 of your best memories from your time at BSB.

One of my best memories from my time at BSB was our Year 12 residential to Tanzania. This was an eye-opening experience that showed me the benefits of trying new things and working together as a team.

Another one of my best memories was my first Model United Nations conference, BRITMUN 2018. This conference gave me the experience I needed to become an active member of BSB’s MUN team. This conference helped me develop my public speaking skills and teamwork skills and it encouraged me to attend more MUN conferences and also become a member of the executive team for BSB’s annual BRITMUN conference. Please also see BEIMUN 2019.

4. What do you think is special about BSB?

I think BSB is special because although it is very diverse environment, everyone is bonded together by common interests. Students at BSB are able to pursue their passions and find peers that share these same passions.

5. What advice do you have for other students at school?

My advice for other students at school is to take advantage of as many new opportunities as possible. If there is a way for you to learn something new or experience something that you have never done before, then I highly encourage you to take this chance. BSB has a number of fantastic opportunities to experience new things throughout the year, whether that be sports teams, volunteering or clubs.
