University Degree: Bachelors in Archaeology, Media and English, PGCE
Ever since I can remember, I have been passionate about working with children. I started my journey by becoming a youth leader while still in high school and continued with this for several years. I soon wanted to become more involved in teaching, which led me to use my passion for swimming to become a swimming coach for Swim South Africa while I was completing my undergraduate degree in Archaeology, Media and English at the University of Cape Town. During my time at university, I became involved in a programme that supported students in underprivileged communities by being involved in their after school activites as well as supporting them with their work.
In 2014, I completed my PGCE at the University of Cape Town and taught at an International School in Cape Town, where I spent my first five years as a teacher. Being a person who always looks for new opportunities and challenges, I knew that I wanted to teach abroad, experience a new culture and better myself professionally. Upon seeing NAE BSB Shunyi and their philosophy, I knew that BSB was the right school for me. I liked all that I saw about BSB and knew that as a teacher at BSB I would be able to put their ideals into practice and in doing so, reach my own goals.
I am a passionate, kind and enthusiastic individual who always seeks to experience new things, take on new challenges and be a true risk taker. Moving to Beijing and teaching at BSB Shunyi will not only aid me in reaching my professional goals, but will also give me multiple experiences I’ve always dreamed of. I am extremely passionate about sports and the outdoors, especially swimming and hiking and all those marvelous things that go with it. But if the weather is chilly you will find me stuck in a good book or watching a movie. My new adventure and future lies at BSB Shunyi, where my husband and I look forward to spending the next chapter of our lives.
