I have been teaching in China for over 12 years at various different levels, from kindergarten, through middle school to university and business level English. I joined BSB in 2008 and spent my first two years teaching English as an Additional Language – a course designed to help those students with weaker English to improve and access the curriculum. From this, I moved into mainstream English before setting up and running our Psychology department which is now well established.
I completed my Honours degree in Psychology and English at Worcester University and went on to take my PGCE here in Beijing. I am due to finish my Masters in Psychology in February 2019 after completing my research project ton culture and risky behavior.
I have been at BSB since 2008 and each year seems to be a busy one. I am excited about continuing to develop our IB Psychology programme and have recently become an IB examiner.
My Head of Year role is also constantly developing – this year, with a new cohort of exciting students, I’m looking forward to working with them to help them learn new skills and broaden their horizons.
My biggest passion at the moment is playing squash, a game I never tire of and I am constantly badgering my colleagues to play with me! With two young daughters, I rarely get much free time, but I do enjoy reading when they finally go to sleep.
