Linda Bastien Worsley

Linda Bastien

Head of Modern Foreign Languages, French Teacher

I studied at the Université de La Réunion where I graduated with a Master’s Degree in Language, Literature and Foreign Civilisations with a speciality in English. I spent 12 years in England and completed the PGCE in 2004 at the University of Manchester and gained my first post at a comprehensive secondary school in Salford where I taught French and Spanish for seven years. I have also delivered French at primary schools around Salford.

I joined The British School of Beijing in 2012 and spent my first year teaching French as a first language as part of the French native programme as well as delivering the curriculum for KS3 and KS4. I thoroughly working with the students and share my passion for languages. 

I am a keen reader and like French and English literatures especially Emile Zola, Guy de Maupassant, Jane Austen and Anita Brookner. I also enjoy travelling and learning about other cultures. Being part of an international school gives me the opportunity to meet students and colleagues from different horizons.

It is essential that our students become independent learners and understand how they learn to help them progress to the next step. The ' Be Ambitious' philosophy creates opportunities for the students to try an array of strategies to improve the way they learn. They are encouraged to take risks and try different methods to become more rounded individuals.
