Lindsey's Profile:
I trained as a professional dancer at London Studio Centre obtaining the BA Hons in Theatre Dance before working as a freelance dancer and choreographer within the industry. I have performed commercially within TV and theatre and have toured the UK as part of a Jazz dance company. One of my biggest performances was as part of the 2012 Paralympic Closing Ceremony where I was able to perform with Coldplay, Jay Z and Rihanna. I have worked extensively as a freelance dance teacher working within the public and private sector, with a variety of ages and in a variety of dance styles before finally deciding to gain qualified teacher status through the Graduate Teacher Programme in 2007.
I worked for 9 years within a secondary school in the UK as the Subject Leader of Dance and also as the Faculty Leader for Performing Arts. Within this role I was able to direct and manage a wide range of productions and dance shows. I also managed a successful dance company who managed to become undefeated within the local area and reached four National Finals, two of which were at the O2 arena where the students got to meet Diversity! I developed my leadership skills within this role and became the Primary School Links Coordinator and Quality Nominee for all BTEC qualifications within the school. Both roles I enjoyed immensely as I was able to work collaboratively with staff on a whole school level and within the wider community.
For the last two years I have worked as the Course Leader at Dancebox Studios & Theatre Works which is a professional training course to prepare dancers for the dance and performing arts industry. I have been fortunate to watch my students perform on professional stages and gain employment as professional dancers.
My real passion is inspiring young people to love dance. I am excited to join the team at BSG and develop dance within the curriculum so that all students can experience the joys of dance. I am impressed by the ethos of Performing Arts at BSG and this is what has attracted me to join the staff team. I am keen to develop my knowledge of dance teaching through the training given by Julliard and it has been a life long ambition to visit the best performing arts institute in the world which I will get to fulfil in August.
I am keen to experience new cultures and am excited to broaden my horizons and visit a wide range of Asian countries. I am new to International teaching but am ready for a new adventure.
I enjoy health and fitness and am a keen runner as well as a theme park enthusiast! I enjoy being active and like to try new activities.
I love theatre and will attend as many shows as I can. I enjoy reading and will often finish my day by reading a good book which always helps me unwind.
