BA (hons), MA, PGCE
My teaching career began in 2007 when I trained to become an EAL teacher. Prior to teaching I was a marketing manager with a specialism in graphic design. I joined BSG in 2009 as an EAL teacher and from then I qualified as mainstream classroom teacher. I have taught different age groups, however, I have primarily been based within Key Stage Two Primary. Though I love teaching all subjects, my main passion lies in all things maths and I was previously Head of Primary Maths for the Primary school. I am a member of several teaching and learning associations including the Chartered Institute of Teaching, Mathematics Association, Association of Teacher of Mathematics and the British Educational Research Association.
I believe that children are at the centre of everything we do and knowing more about them and how they learn, is vital for their development. I am an avid reader of academic research and I have recently achievement a Masters with Distinction qualification in International Education.
Outside of school, most of my time is taken up with my two children, David (D4) and Myles. Aside from my children, my main passion lies in listening to music, regardless of the genre. As well, I recently began to learn the ukulele and though I am not a talented musician, I love playing it. I also love all things sport, though my best footballing days are certainly in the past. Living in China allows great opportunities to explorer and see new things, but most importantly try new food. I am lucky to live in a place with such vast amount of delicious food, especially all the different noodles!
