PTG Street Basketball Tournament 2019 The BIS “Street” Basketball event took place on Saturday morning!

The BIS “Street” Basketball event took place on Saturday morning!

With a soundtrack of classic hip-hop music, competitors in age groups Years 7/8, Years 9/10 and Years 11/12/13 played ball from 8:00am until midday. The main event was a “street” basketball competition, in each age group students signed up in teams of 4 players, where the format is 3vs3.

The competition was very hard fought with players refereeing their own matches in true “street” basketball style. The free throw challenge was very exciting, being a sudden death event. A Year 7/8 team were the winners, showing that superb basketball skills exist in every age group! The centre spot challenge was really challenging! No player was able to score a basket but winners came very close, hitting the rim.

The event was generously sponsored by Saigon Heat, GoDog and Eddie's Diner. Winners received Saigon Heat tickets for a crucial playoff game taking place on Weds 3rd April, as well as Eddie's Diner vouchers and every player received a voucher for a free hotdog from GoDog.

Our students enjoyed the graffiti art area and taking photos with a life-size cut out of basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal and their own replica of the NBA trophy.

The event was organised by members of the PTG with the invaluable help of the PE Department. We hope that the BIS “Street” Basketball event will become a favourite with students in the future.
