On Saturday 20th April, we opened up our doors to the creative minds of BSB Shunyi’s families who took part in the Global Cardboard Challenge.
From the overwhelming global response to the short film, “Caine’s Arcade”, the Challenge has created its own foundation called Imagination.org. It was founded to find, foster and fund creativity and entrepreneurship in children around the world to raise a new generation of innovators and problem solvers who have the tools they need to build the world they imagine. We were part of a global team of over 750,000 participants in 80 countries.
Last year’s creations were built around the theme of arcade machines, as was the original idea from Caine in the aforementioned video. The creations built this year were even more creative as we opened up the theme to use any recyclable material, not just cardboard. We had everything from games, robots and a future wish of the world our children want to grow-up in.
It was a tremendous effort by families of our school to show that we do not need to keep buying new materials to create new things and that our imaginations are still as powerful as ever, as well as spend some quality time together!
Many thanks for your support if you attended and here’s to making next year’s event even bigger and better!

BSB Primary STEAM Week is a unique opportunity for our students to engage in exciting, hands-on activities that combine creativity, design, and problem-solving.
Year 5’s PIAW allowed the children to bring their learning to life and transport themselves to the period of time they explored in class.
