Intermediate Mathematical Challenge (IMC) for Y7 to Y11 students

The United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT) was founded in 1996 and stands as a registered charity, whose aim is to advance the education of young people in mathematics by offering a wide range of national-level competitions and activities for students from 11 to 18 years old in the UK.

Among many mathematical challenges organized by UKMT, their biggest competitions are the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Mathematical Challenge (JMC/IMC/SMC), which have over 700,000 entries from 6,000 schools each year and are the UK's most popular school Mathematical Challenges.  

We are pleased to announce that for school year 2021- 2022, The British School of Beijing (BSB), Shunyi will be participating in the Intermediate Mathematical Challenge (IMC) to begin with. IMC is a 25 question, 60-minute, multiple choice test that encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems. Top scoring students will receive the UKMT Mathematical Challenges Award!

*There will be another Mathematical Challenge Test – JMC (Junior level) in April, invitation letter and details will be sent in the later date.

IMC Details

Student Year Group: Y7 to Y11

Registration Fees: RMB 200

Registration Deadline: 14^th January 2022 (Friday)

Competitions Date: 4^th February 2022 (Friday), 10:00am-11:00am

Competition Venue: Online (computer with camera and mobile device are required) 

Competition Format: 25-question, 60-minute, multiple choice test in either English or Chinese language

Online tips and mock papers will be provided to help registered students in the preparation for the test.
