Students have also participated in a variety of activities in their Mandarin lessons:

  • Early Years and Year 1 students enjoyed the story of Nian and the story of Chinese Zodiac. They love watching a mini-Puppet show organised by Ms. Song and Ms. Tang and were keen to understand the stories and play the show by themselves.
  • Year 2 students explored the customs of Spring Festival like eating glutinous rice balls and native speaking students have tried guessing lantern riddles in class which has raised their interest in exploring Chinese riddles.
  • Year 3 students learned about dates and made a lovely calendar of the Year of the Tiger.
  • Year 4 students discussed the Winter Olympics, winter sports and the spirit of the Games. They made posters to cheer for the athletes.
  • Year 5 students explored the topic of Season and the topic of Garbage Classification which help them think about how to protect the earth and our homes.
  • Year 6 students learned about the topic of Dragon, wrote short essays and imagined dragons as omnipotent animals. They’ve also made lovely posters.

We are pleased to see that all the students are enthusiastic in learning Chinese language and culture.
