Primary Parents Update 15 August - Back to School Learning

Dear Parents,

I am very happy to be preparing for the start of the 2022 – 2023 school year, with students joining us on campus from Thursday September 1 onwards. I hope that all families enjoyed a wonderful holiday, and that children are looking forward to coming back to school to be with their friends and teachers.

Back to School Learning

Back to School learning tasks are now available for students to access, if they would like to do so.

These tasks will

  • review key concepts, skills and knowledge from the previous year’s curriculum
  • introduce students to new learning relevant to their September 2022 group

The tasks are optional but will be a good way for students to get back into learning habits after a long summer break. Students should complete the Back to School Learning for their September 2022 year group, rather than the year group they were in last academic year. Students can bring completed tasks to school at the beginning of the new school year to share with their teachers and peers and the Primary Leadership Team. There is a suggested timeframe for completing the tasks but children can do them as when they would like to do so.

Summer Holiday Challenges

There is also time for students to complete the Summer Challenges in Reading and Maths. Please access the links below for further details:

 Uniform reminders

As families prepare for sending their children to school on September 1st, please remember the following with regards to correct Summer school uniform in Years 1 - 6:

  • Plain black leather school shoes for boys and girls
  • Plain white ankle socks for girls – no stripes, lace or decoration on the socks. No long socks.
  • Plain black ankle socks for boys

At times when returning to school from wonderful holidays, students’ hair presents some problems. Please remember:

  • If hair is below the collar of the uniform it needs to be tied back, for boys and girls
  • No artificial hair colours are allowed; students’ hair should be their natural colour only
  • No patterns can be shaved into a student’s head
