Principal's Update 27th January 2023

Principal Update 27th January 2023 - Principal Update 27th January 2023

Dear parents,

Firstly, let me wish every one of our families a very happy Chinese New Year. I am sure we all welcome the new year with open arms, looking forward to a bright and settled period with the prospect of spending more time with our families and friends and renewed community spirit. We wish all of our BSB families prosperity, health and happiness in the year of the rabbit.

Return to School

School will resume on Monday 30th January at the normal time.  There are no restrictions on entering school for students or staff after travelling within China or abroad.

We highly recommend that all students and staff take an antigen test to confirm their health status before returning on Monday. We are not, however, required to collect these results We urge you to take this responsibility seriously and to send your children to school only if they have no symptoms of illness.

Virtual School Experience (VSE)

It is imperative that we return to normal and to have all students learning in the classroom with their teachers and peers. Therefore, VSE will no longer be offered for families who choose to travel in term time. In addition, any student who is ill should recuperate at home and then return to the classroom when all symptoms have gone without the need for VSE.

Illness

If a student contracts the Covid, please inform the school; they can now return to school with either a negative antigen test or after two days with no symptoms at all.  For all cases of illness, we request that you exercise caution and only send children back to school when they have had no symptoms for two days.  Previous rules, such as staying away from school for 48 hours after sickness or diarrhea continue to apply. You will be pleased to hear that we were not aware of any further cases of Covid related to school since we returned on January 3rd but will be monitoring very closely as we return to school once again.

We look forward to our return to school for what promises to be an exciting and busy term ahead. We will be excited to welcome the students back on Monday and, in the meantime, we hope that you enjoy the remainder of the holiday and have a very happy Spring Festival.

Kind regards,

Jayne Needham
