Teddies learning about Community Helpers

Teddies' team is extremely excited about returning to school and seeing all the children after the holidays. The students are getting familiar again with our routines as well as classroom rules and expectations.

Theme “People who help us”

Our current theme is ‘People who help us’. The children are learning about our community helpers, for instance the occupation names and/or costumes. They also have hands-on opportunities to make crafts involving community helpers such as making firefighters or chefs. Role playing is always an important part of our daily activities as it makes a connection between real life experience and learning; if you come and visit Teddies you will have a chance to meet many children dressed up as police officers or doctors.

Chinese New Year activities

Last month, we’ve had many wonderful activities to learn about the celebration festivities of Chinese New Year. Students made dragons, turned themselves into rabbits, and dressed in a sea of red to welcome the Year of the Rabbit.

Outdoor Learning Environment

Regardless of the cold weather, going to our outdoor learning environment has continued to be a part of our daily routine. This is not only a fun time for us to go out and explore nature, riding vehicles, playing and running and playing catch and more, but it is also an amazing opportunity for our children to learn how to put on their coats, hats, boots and mittens independently. It is fascinating to see the endless learning moments in Teddies; interacting with peers and building relationships has continues to be our focus. Simple lessons such as using kind words, asking nicely, sharing and taking turns goes a long way.

Seeing our young learners come to school to play, have fun and learn has always been our mission and joy. We work hard to diversify our students’ interests by creating a variety of learning areas in our classroom such as sensory, art, role play, small world and investigation. We look forward to continuing an exciting and joyful learning journey with our students for the rest of the school year.
