El día de los Muertos, the vibrant Mexican festivity, has taken center stage at BSB's Global Languages Department again this year. Year 11 and Year 10 Spanish IGCSE students have come together to create a captivating Altar, or Ofrenda, to honor the legendary Mexican artist, María Felix, and the Brazilian football sensation, Pelé.
Year 7 students have had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich traditions and customs associated with Día de los Muertos during the Spanish lessons. Throughout the week, they have actively engaged in activities and competitions that highlight the essence of this Hispanic holiday, including the decoration of sugar skulls, a cherished symbol of the festival. These activities not only showcase students' creative talents but also help them understand the significance of these intricate designs.
Dia de los Muertos is a deeply rooted Mexican tradition that celebrates the lives of departed loved ones and emphasizes the importance of remembering them with joy and reverence. In an increasingly interconnected world, the celebration of Dia de los Muertos at BSB's Global Languages Department symbolizes cultural appreciation, harmony, and the power of bringing people together through shared traditions.
