Dear BSB Sport Followers,
As the Term comes to a close, and we begin to wrap-up sport for our U19/U14 students, I am so delighted to report again on how much sport has grown at BSB these past 2 academic years. The success of this can be clearly highlighted by the development and involvement of students in our U14 core sports, particularly Season 2 Volleyball and Season 3 Basketball. During these past two seasons, for the first time at BSB, we had teams participate in all 3 ISAC Divisions for U14/U13/U12 respectively. Our girls and boys U14 Volleyball Teams won both their ISAC tournaments, and most recently at the ISAC Basketball Exchanges, as a whole BSB won 18 games between the 6 teams playing on the day. Again, incredible results between the two sports on top of the player/student turnout.
As it is the time again to plan next year, BSB is looking to expand at the U19 levels with all of these talented students, as well as continue to see how we can expand sport further in primary. Moreover, another very big highlight this year has been the development of our Swim Program under the direction of Ali Armstrong as Head of Aquatics. Through his guidance our swim program now has over 100 students participating in our AquaBears swim team in addition to all the positives being developed on the curriculum side. House Swimming events particularly for primary have become huge events for students which allows everyone to participate and the opportunity for parents to come and watch them do so.
I look forward very much to the continued development of both the sport and swim programs at BSB. Ultimately we want to give as many students the ability to play sport no matter if it is on the competitive side for one of our ISAC/ACAMIS/FOBISIA teams or through our intramural House sport program which is completely inclusive of all BSB students throughout the school no matter your level.
Our Season 2 Sport Award Winners have been announced for Secondary and are listed below. Congratulations to all players for their hard work and contributions to their teams.
Primary Season 2 Sport Award Winners will be celebrated and announced in Primary assembly on Friday April 10th.
