Ivy League or Oxbridge? How to get into the world's best universities

Mr Steve Lewis, Head of Secondary and Ms Roohi Iqbal, our Regional Head of Higher Education will present this workshop.

Date: Wed 14th October 8:45-9:45am

Location: Theatre

Open to parents from all years but especially Year 11 and upwards.

The workshop will focus on university application procedures and how to get ahead - what parents need to do and how they can help.

There will be a Q&A after the workshop.


Roohi Iqbal, Higher Education Advisor Regional

Roohi received a Bachelor of Arts from Cornell College with a Degree in Psychology and Education, a Master of Arts (Magna Cum Laude) in English Education from Columbia University and is a US certified teacher.

Roohi has been trained in College Counselling and Guidance by both Harvard University and the University of Oxford, gaining an in-depth understanding of the decision criteria and selection processes utilised by the most competitive universities in the world.

In addition, she has visited a number of institutions in the US, UK, and Europe and maintains excellent relationships with Admissions Officers there. Roohi also attends the annual Council of International Schools conference for overseas Higher Education advisors each year.

Roohi is dedicated to helping students and their parents navigate the complex and often daunting university/college application process. In the past she has worked with students applying to competitive universities and colleges in the UK, US, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan and Korea. Roohi counsels students and their families on the selection of institutions and programs based upon the student's individual goals and talents. She works with each student to ensure that their applications are prepared in the best possible manner, and guides them on the entire process from application to accepting the offer of a place.

Roohi is Brazilian- Pakistani. She has previously worked at international schools following the IB curriculum in Brazil, Bahrain, USA, and China. She is fluent in Portuguese and Urdu/Hindi, proficient in Mandarin, and has some knowledge of American Sign Language.

Roohi enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Ms Iqbal has responsibilities for Higher Education in all Nord Anglia Education schools in China and will be at BSB specifically for this event. BSB University Counsellor, Tim Lyddiatt, works very closely with her on a day to day basis in supporting students achieve places at the world’s best universities.
