BSB Class of 2021 Early University Acceptance Offers

BSB Class of 2021 Early University Acceptance Offers-bsb-class-of-2021-early-university-acceptance-offers-2021 BSB Shunyi Graduates 2 540x329

It is the end, and it is the beginning. The culmination of many chapters of play and learning coming to the final pages of this book of foundational education for our soon to be Graduates of 2021. Parents, grandparents, guardians, siblings, and students have all put in years of energy and effort for this cohort of students to arrive at this rite of passage. It is the end of Secondary School, the end of childhood as many say. And yet – another book is about to be written. A book about young adulthood, a book about responsibility and independence and self-exploration.

BSB teachers and administration look towards next week with mixed emotions when the IB Hub and Secondary Library will be a little quieter with the Year 13s out of school, exams completed. We must commend our students for working through such a challenging task. The IB Diploma Programme is known as the most rigorous pre-university curriculum across the globe, and it sets our students up nicely to move onward to professional post-secondary education.

Even more amazing is this cohort’s resiliency. They have managed to keep up with their IB course work and assessments in very uncertain times. The Global pandemic has pushed them out of school and online and back and forth again. And yet – they have managed to continue, undeterred by the difficulties they faced. They often have had to push through alone, in isolation from their peers; the peers that challenge them and peers that support them. They have managed to come so far, through so much to reach their goals.

For many those goals which were definite and certain have shifted and adapted to their situations. Some students will head of to university and hopefully to in-person classes. Others will attend university in a hybrid manner, and some will take the opportunity to learn online until it is in their best interest to attend university in person. Other students are opting for a GAP year. A year to grow, a year to explore and a year to settle and perhaps allow the world to settle.

As you can see from the list below, BSB students continue to excel as they have amazing offers from high quality, best-fitting universities from every region of the world. Students have worked diligently to explore which courses and which universities will allow them to become a new part of those communities. Communities that they can engage in academically, socially, emotionally, and professionally in order for them to continue to flourish into young adulthood and beyond.

Each year at this time I reflect on how grateful I am to work with so many amazing young people.  This year group is no different. It has been a pleasure to work with the cohort’s blend of artists, mathematicians, musicians, scientists, psychologists and businesspeople. But they are more than their academics, they are chatterboxes, comedians, critical thinkers, observers, justice seekers, socialists, support givers, and laugh sharers. It has been a pleasure, onward and upward BSB Class of 2021.

Brian Chesher

University and Careers Counsellor

“It is no surprise to me that our 2021 Year 13 cohort have offers to some of the finest institutions in the world; it is a reflection of the fine young people they are. I have been truly honoured to have been their IB Coordinator as they completed their school journey and looked towards life beyond school. Whether their next destination is known yet or not, I'm sure teachers and families would agree with me that whatever these almost graduates choose to pursue, their future is going to be bright. Congratulations to you all.”
