An outstanding graduate, gives us his account of success at The British School of Beijing, Shunyi.

When I joined BSB as an year 8 student, BSB was a small and vibrant school. Compared to the past, it has grown so much over the past few years. However, I must say that it still provides a friendly and caring environment.

Regardless of its increase in size, BSB still maintains close personal ties among peers and compassionate staff whom the students can rely on when they need help. Now that I am attending a university, I realise how ignorant I was of such caring community. It is probably the last chance for you to receive such care from someone other than your families so use it wisely!

For those of you who are stressed about universities, my advice will be to have a good balance between enjoyable life and studies. I do not want to deny that university choices have huge impact on your life. Universities do matter but what matters more is your ultimate goal.

By all means, if achieving what you want requires occasional rest and diverse experience, you should take them. There is a number of extracurricular activities both fun and academically enriching that you should consider. Speaking of my personal experience, I took part in MUN conference and International Award. Once again, universities are important but so are every aspect of your life.

Do not consider your life in BSB merely as a stage before university but as an important part of your learning experience. Please make a full use of such valuable time and give your best shot at everything you are trying to achieve.
