Over the last 7 years, I have worked in education across a variety of different settings including Mainstream, Special Education and Early Years Education. I have a keen interest in inclusive education and early intervention within the early years. I have worked with diverse groups of children and consider myself lucky to have gained a wide range of experience within educational settings. I hold a First-Class Honours degree in Early Childhood Education and recently completed a Master’s degree in Early Intervention with Trinity College Dublin. My academic areas of interest include: Emotional regulation, well-being and inclusion.
Education is a passion of mine and I hope to instill the same passion in the children I meet. I believe understanding the needs and interests of every child is essential for a successful learning environment. Lesson plans that meet the children’s interests can promote higher levels of engagement and in turn, improve learning outcomes. Through fun and meaningful lessons, positive experiences can be achieved.
I have recently started golf lessons and am looking forward to improving enough to play on some of China’s golf courses. I am a rugby fan and when in Ireland I attened the Leinster Rugby games with my family. I also enjoy watching GAA, Ireland’s national games. I have joined the Beijing GAA team and am excited to play in the coming season.
I am very much looking forward to enhancing my professional career in the British School of Beijing, Shunyi. While here I hope to explore Beijing’s rich culture and travel if possible. Education has shaped my life and is something I value greatly. I am eager to continue my personal professional development during my spare time. In the words of Seamus Heaney, “If you have the words, there’s always a chance that you’ll find a way”.
