I graduated with a BA in Sociology & Social Policy from University of Leeds and received my iPGCE from University of Derby.
I first started teaching more than ten years ago when I took a teaching position for a charitable organisation helping adults with learning difficulties improve their reading and writing abilities. I took this role as I wanted to do something beneficial for society and to help improve people's lives. This is why I enjoy teaching, helping people make progress, and seeing those improvements come to fruition. It is a very rewarding role wherein every day is different, with new sets of challenges, and endless job satisfaction and joy.
I came to China in 2017 and worked with a training centre for one year and then worked for a UNESCO certified kindergarten thereafter. Working with young children has been very rewarding and also fun. Every day I come to work happy and leave happy. It is a career I am continuing to study and gain further certification in, and I am happy to have chosen one which is so rewarding and full of such joy.
I have been living in China for five years now, a decision which I first took as I love adventure and as it enabled me to continue working within the field of teaching. I love travelling to different countries and meeting people. Previously I had travelled solo across Southeast Asia for three months, and have been to, and made friends in, many European countries. In my spare time I enjoy cooking, going on long bike rides, and I try to be creative whilst indoors. On an amateur level I enjoy re-editing movies, and I have also tried making a small video game recently which enabled me to not only be artistic, but I also learned basic programming skills, design, and how to use several different computer programs. I'm a keen reader and I'm currently reading The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
