The afternoon of Thursday 7th February will live long in the memory of those who witnessed Upper Primary’s ‘ISM’s Got Talent’. The audience were treated to a wonderful range of singers, dancers and musicians, displaying their incredible skills.

Hugo Vinet and Anastasia Parakhina were the hosts and began by generating a feverish atmosphere in the Ivan Gromov Gymnasium. Eighteen acts performed over the course of the show with such varied talents as rhythmic gymnastics, contemporary dances, classical piano, rock drumming and the singing of popular songs.

The audience were enthralled throughout and greeted each act with a fervour rarely seen at ISM. Students held posters, banners and even face masks, encouraging and supporting their friends as they had their moment on stage.

The judges were Mr Moore, Miss Pankrukhina, Mrs Samarin, Arohi Mathur (Upper Primary Head Girl), Kirill Kuzavlev (Upper Primary Head Boy) and Arina Sharova, returning for one afternoon only as the winner of last year’s competition. Busily conferring throughout the show, the judges clearly had a difficult task deciding the winners.

At the end of the show, the judges headed to the back of the room to finally decide the gold, silver and bronze winners. During this time, Arina performed her winning song from last year, ‘Running’ by Beyonce. Just like last year, the audience erupted as they once again witnessed Arina’s emotional and talented voice.

All of the participants were awarded a medal of recognition by Mr. Coburn and finally Mr Moore strode onto the stage to announce the winners. In third place was Rinca Ogawa for her truly breathtaking rendition of Mozart’s ‘Sonata’. Second place went to Mikella Abramova who played Adele’s ‘Someone Like You’ on the piano whilst singing at the same time. After much deliberation, the winner was announced as Alexandra Zakharova for her magnificent performance of ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’.
