I received my BA in Mandarin and History of Art/Archaeology from SOAS, University of London. I am in the process of completing a PGCEi from Nottingham University, UK. I am absolutely delighted to have this opportunity to enhance my teaching qualifications, skills and knowledge based on several years of teaching in EYFS environments and Primary schools.
In 2017 with the imminent arrival of my son, Sebastian, I began delving into books about raising and communicating with children. What I read soon drove me to leave my former career in the Art world and dive into the world of Education. Since then, I have been working with Early Years at international schools in Beijing. I am thrilled to be joining the BSB EYFS team in August 2021.
As an educator, I see it as my role to demonstrate that learning is a two-way road. The children will be as much my guide as I will be theirs. Equally, I am a strong believer that a sense of humour is a key ingredient to building relationships within the classroom. My goal within a student-orientated environment is to foster trust, encourage independent thinking, and to accompany the children in exploring new territories and embarking on adventures together.
I met my husband, Li Xia, whilst on my year abroad in Beijing studying at the Beijing Normal University. After graduating, I moved directly to Beijing - this was almost ten years ago! Since then, we have had our son, Sebastian, who will be joining BSB’s Nursery this term. We enjoy living in Shunyi and taking advantage of its location. It’s proximity to the mountains and nature make it a wonderful area for exploring. As a family, we are partial to trying new foods as well as listening to music from all over the world.
