Wow! Toys!

The Year 1 children bounced back to BSB Sanlitun on Monday morning after their holidays to participate in an exciting introduction to their new topic ‘What's in the Toybox?’

The children attended an introduction session and discussed what they would like to learn in the topic and discussed through partner talk and whole class discussion, what they already know about toys.

This is a history topic so the children created actions for the key vocabulary linked to the topic: past, present and future. We were very excited as we brought our new toys and old time favourites and used adjectives to describe them and let our friends investigate and explore all their features.

We had some lovely parents bring in their toys from their past. They told us why they liked them and the Year 1 children even got joining in with some wonderful skipping and bubble blowing activities. The children will be creating a piece of toy art in the style of Andy Warhol, designing and making their own puppets and running their very own toyshop.

The children in Year 1 are super excited to get started on their learning and are already using all the skills necessary to be a historian!
