In DT we are working through the following design process:
Real world context
The toys on the market have been around for a long time. The challenge is on to create a NEW electrical toy that will be instantly popular with children all over the world
To design an innovative, functional, appealing toy that demonstrates your knowledge of electrical circuits. The toy must be fun to play and is aimed for children across the world to play.
The children surveyed Year 5 and 6 and researched what made a toy appealing and fun to play with. Here is a sample from our results:
The children used this information to develop design criteria. They communicated their ideas through discussion, annotated sketches, cross-sectional drawings.
We are currently in the process of making our toys using a range of materials. Children are making haunted houses, operation type games, maze games connected to a Makey Makey etc…..We look forward to sharing these toys with each other and the community next term.
