PJ Franano, in collaboration with the teachers here at BSB Sanlitun, is proud to launch Times Tables Rock Stars for all children from Year 1 to Year 6. Times Tables Rock Stars is an online platform designed to systematically progress through the times tables. It is automatically tailored to each and every student and guides students through a variety of game types, each with a specific purpose. This programme is based on the idea that little but often practice is the best way to achieve fluidity within rapid recall of times tables. It has already encouraged healthy competition between students as well as adults within the school!

Each child has received their own log in account to the website: https://play.ttrockstars.com as they play they are awarded coins that can be spent to personalise their avatars. They are also given Rock Speeds as they progress. Their Rock Speed calculates the average time it takes to answer a question. Believe it or not, we already have a handful of children who can answer a question in under a second consistently for one minute straight, meaning they are Rock Heroes! We are already seeing the progress in terms of confidence, enthusiasm but also actual performance in terms of speed and accuracy!

At BSB Sanlitun, we believe that a good understanding of multiplication and division relationship underpins much of what is done in Maths. By developing that understanding within our children we hope to better equip them for future learning. It would be great if you could take a couple minutes to explore the website with your children and reinforce the importance of having a solid understanding of multiplication as well as the ability to rapidly recall facts.
