As an introduction to their new topic, Food, Glorious Food! the children in the Pandas, Alligators, Giraffes, Monkeys and Elephants were invited to bring in foods from their home countries to share and sample.
After sampling many delicious delights from across the globe, the children recorded in a table, the foods they had tried, which countries they were from and also used their Fluent and Flexible thinking skills to choose adjectives and descriptive phrases to describe the tasty treats.
In our topic this term, Year 2 will be learning about the different food groups, the importance of a balance diet as well as honing their own cookery skills in the Cookery Room in the Li building. Could BSB Sanlitun have the next Gordon Ramsey or Jamie Oliver in our midst? Only time will tell.
Already this week, the children have been learning about the discovery of chocolate by Hernan Cortez and the Aztecs which was a nice lead up to the Easter Egg hunt that will be taking place at school next week.
A huge thank you to our Year 2 parents for their generous food donations. The children (and the adults) certainly enjoyed the various delights that they were able to sample.
