‘Celebrating Me’

The Year1 children have had a great start to their Topic ‘Celebrating Me’! After reading their class text ‘Chrysanthemum’ the children began celebrating themselves starting with their names. They secretly wrote their names on paper then discovered it using water colour paints.

To further celebrate themselves, they shared their pictures of their families and were very respectful of each other’s ideas. Then they adventured over to the Art Room to create their family trees using their independent skills. First, they made the tree trunk using paint brushes then using their hands or fingers they created the leaves. It was really fun!

Most recently, they shared their baby pictures with each other and have discussed how they have changed over time. We had lots of fun guessing which baby picture belonged to each child. Using their independent skills the children then used to write super sentences about how they have changed.
