This year BISC Lincoln Park had their very first spring musical. Students from Year 3 to Year 6 worked for several months to present Into the Woods Jr. at the Royal George Theatre. The entire process started with an audition that required students to memorize lines and perform a song. In the end there were about 60 students and staff who participated, as well as several of the parents working many hours to create the amazing scenery and props for the show. The musical was a huge success and showed how talented and versatile we are here at BISC-LP.
This project weaved together our drama collaboration with the Juilliard-Nord Anglia Performing Arts Program in Music and Dance. Our pupils had an opportunity to experience the creative process right through, from the audition stages to the rehearsals and then finally the big performance. This not only allowed them to hone their stage skills, but also to learn how to perform their skills to an audience. The learning didn’t just happen onstage though, our backstage team learned about the organization that goes on behind the scenes.
Well done to all involved and keep an eye out for auditions for next year’s musical!
