Assessment Week – Click here for details on ‘How, When & Why we Assess your Child’
Over the next two weeks your children will have in-class Assessments to gauge their progress over the past year. The teachers have been preparing the children for these assessments so that they know what to expect and not to be alarmed! I have asked Mrs Harley what the children can do to prepare over the weekend and she says, “The only thing I recommend is a good night’s sleep”. Details of these assessments will be in your child’s end of term report. For parents of the children currently representing our school in Athens at the COBIS Olympics, we will give our athletes time to get over their jet lag!
COBIS Update – Click here for our NAIS Knight blog
Speaking of the COBIS Team. Please take the time to look at the COBIS blog. We have been in regular contact with the teachers and the parents accompanying the trip and they’ve all remarked on what an amazing team we have. Not just in sporting achievements, but as a group of young people representing their school with pride. One of the accompanying mums said that they have been such excellent ambassadors for NAIS.
Typhoons & Black/Rain Rainstorms – Click here
We are now approaching the season for typhoons and red/black rainstorms. If you are new to Hong Kong, please check our website (click here) for details on what to do if a typhoon or red/back rainstorm approaches. Can we also remind you to let us know if you’ve changed your mobile number as it’s essential for us to be able to contact you and your emergency contact/helper.
Laptops for Secondary School Students (2015/16 academic year)
Year 6 and 7 parents, please look out for a letter next week on ensuring that your child has the right laptop for Secondary School (from August 2015). We’ll also email a soft copy to you.
Join a Virtual Balloon Race – Click here
Next Monday all the pupils will be introduced to a very interesting project that combines science, charity and fun! The charity ‘Care for Children’ is inviting students from around the world to buy a virtual balloon. Once you have your balloon you have to carefully decorate it, choose the thickness of the balloon and how much to blow it up. On 8 June, the virtual balloons owned by students around the world will be “released” from the Great Wall of China. The challenge is to ensure that you balloon flies the highest and furthest without popping! Anyway, take a look at this website and remember to ask your child about it on Monday.
