The Village School participated in the Cities in Space Student Competition in Austin on November 10, 2017. This competition is an extension of the New Worlds Conference and sponsored by STEAMSPACE Education Outreach. Seventeen, eighth grade students on three teams gave presentations of their 3-D models and visions for colonies on the moon, on Mars or free-floating in space somewhere in the Universe. It was an exceptional opportunity to meet and gather input from experts who truly believe we will be living and working as space pioneers in the lifetime of the students welcomed to the conference. These young scientists were challenged to forge ahead and never give up their ideas. Team Horizon (ten students) from Village won the first place trophy for their presentation and 3-D model for a space colony. The other two teams were also exceptionally well versed and impressed the judges with their knowledge and innovative thinking. It was an awesome experience for all who attended and they made their teachers very proud.
