ELL Teaching Assistant

Job Responsibilities

  • Support Lead Teacher in English language teaching to the students
  • Assist in planning and implementing the daily program under the direction of the Lead Teacher, which includes lesson plans.
  • Working with individual students, small and whole groups during instruction/learning.
  • Assist in the monitoring of student progress and maintaining student records.
  • Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up interest centers, preparing displays of student work, and preparing needed materials and supplies.
  • Support the overall development of students – social, emotional, and cognitive.
  • Supervise the classroom when the Lead Teacher is out of the room.
  • Help with the general housekeeping tasks.
  • Assist the Lead Teacher in other ways as requested.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and cooperative working relationships with other professionals.
  • Treat all children with dignity and respect.
  • Attend all required staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences.
  • Participate in professional workshops that work for the improvement of the Primary Program.
  • Maintain confidentiality about children, their families, and other employees outside of the school.
  • Supervise students outside of classroom environment, including the playground.
  • Support the mission and goals of the school and programs.
  • Set a professional example in terms of dress, punctuality, and attendance.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by teachers and/or administration.


  • The ability to relate well with young children.
  • A warm and friendly personality with the ability to be sensitive to the needs of others.
  • The ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend in the English language fluently.
