Dear Parents,
Students have been incredibly busy since returning after the half-term holiday and I think we all can’t quite believe we’re almost into November. For me, that reality truly hit home last night when my wife suggested we go Christmas shopping at the weekend! She was also obviously unaware that it was SCC Rugby Sevens this weekend . . .
SENIOR EXAMINATIONS
Anyway, since returning from the half-term holiday our senior students have completed their first round of examinations. For all students this can be quite a daunting period both in terms of revising appropriately as well as in actually completing the examinations independently. Exam technique is certainly a skill that can be learned and improved upon hence the importance we place on these examination experiences. Results have now been feedback and discussed, so please ask your child how they got on and more importantly find out what they will aim to improve on next time around.
YEAR 7 ASSEMBLY
Our Year 7 students will once again be back on the stage during assembly next Friday the 7th of November at 1.50pm. The assembly will be about 'Cultural Diversity' and students will be telling us about funny/ quirky /unique celebrations from their home countries. If you’re able to come, we’d love to see you.
ST. GEORGE’S CAROL CONCERT
Preparations have now begun for the annual Junior/Senior Carol Concert that will be held at St. George’s Church on Wednesday the 26th of November. Auditions for solos and readers is underway and carols are being learned.
SENIOR PRESENTATION TO YEAR 5 AND 6 PARENTS
Finally, on Thursday we were most grateful to address a number of parents of Year 5 and Year 6 students during our Parents’ Evening. This was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the dynamic, broad and relevant curriculum that we offer in the Senior School. We are in the fortunate position of having a strong team of specialist secondary teaching staff who already know your children which makes the transition into a senior environment so much easier. If you have any questions regarding what we do in the Senior School please do not hesitate to contact us. We would be delighted to speak to you about the many benefits for your child in remaining at DCIS.
I hope you have a lovely and restful weekend and perhaps can delay your Christmas shopping just a little bit longer!
Regards,
Reid Archer
