This week, Year 4 have been practicing hard for their assembly all about the Romans. Our assembly told the story of Boudicca and how the Romans took over England, as well as giving information about the Roman Army. As part of this, we designed and made some Roman shields which we used in our performance. Roman shields were usually red, gold and really heavy. We made ours out of card so they weren’t as heavy as the real thing but they looked just as good! We then took our shields outside and practiced making the ‘tortoise formation’ with some success, as well as marching like soldiers. We also practiced some of our chants which we wrote earlier in the term in our English lessons. Year 4 now think they are ready to join to real Roman Army!
